One-Day Mastermind Event in Orlando

Tuesday, March 13, 2018
posted by Jody Maberry 8:47 PM

I am hosting a small, private one-day mastermind style gathering in Orlando.  It will be a small group where everyone will get time to discuss their challenges and opportunities. You will get face to face time with me. But you will also be in a room of like-minded people who can offer input from their knowledge experience, too.

This is why I say it is a Mastermind style event. It is not me on stage giving a presentation. It is us sitting together talking about specific situations in your business or career.

My partner and host of my podcast, Jody Maberry, will be there, too. So we can record some episodes of Creating Disney Magic together if you want to be a part of an episode.

Rather than meet in a boardroom, we are looking at a more private setting. Details on the specific location will come later.

This is the first time I have done an event like this.

You can find more details here. The date is April 28th. We will spend the day together at a private room at Urbain 40, a wonderful restaurant only 6 miles from Disney Springs.

We will spend the day together talking business and creating magic and finish our time together with dinner and cocktails.

There are only 2 spots open for this event. Don’t miss your chance to join me for this mastermind style meeting in Orlando on April 28th. You can sign up here.

If You Need a Mentor, This Might Be for You

A common question I hear is, “Lee, will you be my mentor?”

Unfortunately, the answer is no. I get the request so often I couldn’t possibly be a mentor to everyone. But I am always flattered when asked. And I know how valuable mentors are.

Early in my career, I had two mentors who changed the path of my professional life.

Usually, if I ask someone who their mentor is, they either mention their parents, manager at work or simply nobody.

It is true, most people don’t get much help in their professional career, but I find people are confused about many areas in their life. Career choices aren’t our only worry.

Navigating life can be difficult. How do I find a life partner? Are my problems normal? Where do I start when I want to do what I love?

If you have asked any of these questions, you are not alone. Most people feel this way. And unless you are lucky enough to have someone next to you who will listen without judging and help you along the way, you will probably have to find an answer by yourself.

Recently, I discovered a new website that can help you out along the way. is a platform to connect people like you with a mentor in areas such as Life & Personal Development, Business & Entrepreneurship, Career, Heath, and more.

If you don’t have a friend, co-worker, supervisor or generous uncle who is willing to be candid and open with you about problems you are working through you may consider giving Menspot a try.

Just like any relationship, you only get back what you put into it. So if you aren’t willing to do the work, this won’t work either. But, put in the time with your mentor and Menspot allows you to track the progress towards your goal.

I asked one of the founders of Mentspot for more information about the platform and here is what he told me;

  1. Mentor someone in the area you feel competent in. Nothing gives more satisfaction than teaching others. It’s not only about having a goal but also realizing how much knowledge you already have. By teaching, you also learn yourself by repeating, filling the gaps and giving a structure to what you already know.
  2. Connect with other mentors: Even if you are a great entrepreneur, maybe you can improve your quality of life at home. Very often, a simple conversation can let you get some distance and look at everyday challenges differently.
  3. As a mentee, connect with other mentees: Who knows, maybe you can expand your circle of friends or simply network. While connecting with others that have the same worries, you will feel much more comforted and confident.

We are always looking for ways to get better. Asking for help is one way to get better.

If you don’t currently have a mentor, may be what you are looking for.

Career Magic Now Available

My newest book, Career Magic, is now available on Amazon.

Click HERE to get a copy.
Career Magic is a unique book full of priceless advice and insightful experience. In this book, I share how I went from being a college dropout, rose through the ranks at both Hilton and Marriott, and ultimately became the Executive Vice President of Operations for Walt Disney World Resorts. As the Senior Operating Executive for more than a decade, I led a team of 40,000 Cast Members and was responsible for the operations of 20 resort hotels, 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, a shopping & entertainment village and the ESPN sports and recreation complex.

After spending more than 40 years in the hospitality industry developing skills, learning lessons in management and excellence in customer service, people were always asking, “How can I climb the corporate ladder? How can I get into management? How can I get promoted? How can I make more money?” It was these persistent questions that led Lee to write this book.

I candidly share the specific things I did to experience such dramatic success in the corporate world, but I also share the mistakes I made along the way, and the million–dollar lessons I learned that ultimately led me to the top spot at the number one vacation destination in the world.
It was not Disney magic that made my career so successful, but the way I dealt with the ups and downs that made it magical. It’s the same with your career. Through this book, you will learn how to navigate the ups and downs along your own career path and zero in on your ideal job – and ultimately, the life you desire.

If I can do it, so can you. No matter where you are along your career path, you have an opportunity to climb the ladder of success by paying attention, asking questions and having a passion for your chosen career.
