We often forget or underestimate what one person can do to make a big difference in other peoples lives. As a business leader or as a good citizen leader each of us can make life a whole lot better for others. Are you doing enough?
For all of you out there remember that you can make reality fantastic for your customers and for your fellow associates. When things go wrong you can make them right quickly.
Go out into your organization and make reality fantastic for every customer this week. Start this new habit and your business will thrive. When you do a great job, recessions are not as harsh.
As I said in a previou post, “If you have flies in your operation then you like flies.” If a place is dirty and disorganized that tells a lot about the leader of that organization.
I just returned from a quick trip to London to pick up my grandson Jullian and to meet with my UK publishers who will be publishing my book in Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore and other countries outside the US where they distribute in English. We even had time to have afternoon tea and a forced march tour of London one afternoon. Instead of tea sandwiches Jullian order Earl Grey tea and a tortilla platter. Not very traditional but it was tasty. He then asked me what Earl Grey was. I told him I have no idea but will Google it today to find out. I hope you enjoy this article titled, Why Can’t We Get Anything Done? It was published in 2001 but is still relevant today… Lee
We don’t need more studies on the affect of excellent leadership. What we need is a whole lot more common sense.
Speaking of common sense, there are only 85 days left until my book is published. Go to my website for the latest update: www.LeeCockerell.com.

COMMUNICATE….COMMUNICATE AND COMMUNICATE
Today’s post is from many years ago when I was at Disney and we were going through a recession much like what may be happening now. This is the time to communicate more than ever and to tell the truth to your associates. The truth is usually much less scary than the rumors flying around.

I hope everyone had a good week. My mother taught me a lot. Some days I did not think she cared, especially when she was giving me some pretty tough feedback. Of course I learned that she cared 110% for me and that is why she gave me tough feedback. Think about how well you are doing this as you read the following letter from my mother. Have good weekend.

Continuous improvement is the name of the game. Do you lead in a way that creates an environment where great ideas can surface and are you willing to try new things before shooting them down?
